Majao in Medellín: Experience the Passion of Social Dancing and Connect with a Unique Community

I am pleased to share with you about a place that is revolutionizing the social dance scene in our city. If you are someone who seeks to connect with people, listen to good music, dance, and, above all, enjoy a different kind of night, Majao is the place you can’t miss in Medellín. Located at Discoteca Barcelona, every Wednesday at Majao you’ll find shows, workshops, and more. Majao is much more than a space to move your feet—it’s a true community of people who share the same passion for dance!

Two Spaces, One Shared Passion

The venue features two completely distinct spaces that offer a unique experience for dance lovers:

  • Bachata Room: A space dedicated exclusively to the sensual and captivating rhythms of bachata. Here, dancers can feel everything from the most traditional styles to the most modern interpretations.
  • Zouk Zone: Music curated by experts who will help you connect with deeper sounds and movements that let you feel the pure energy of dance. A space where every note and every step transports you to a unique sensory experience, where music is not just heard but felt and lived.

Beyond Dancing: A United Community

What truly makes Majao special is not just its excellent music but the community it has built. Here, family, love for dance, respect, and empathy are the foundational pillars. Wednesdays are not just about enjoying dance but also about sharing. In addition to dance nights, you can find events like mini socials, dining out, and even hikes up the famous Cerro de las Tres Cruces, further strengthening the sense of unity.

Why Majao?

The story of Majao was born from a clear need: in Medellín, there was a lack of a place where bachata lovers could gather. At first, it was just about creating a space to share this passion, but over time, Majao has become much more than that. It’s the place where we all come every Wednesday to live a unique night!

One of Majao’s partners shares a bit about what it means to him and the team:

"What we aim for with Majao is to offer a space where people can feel at home, where everyone, no matter where they come from, shares something as beautiful as dance. It’s not just a place to move your feet but to create moments, laugh, eat, and enjoy together as a family." – Chris
